(More customer reviews)I purchased this "Solar Blanket" for my 16' diameter above ground pool hoping to have warmer water for my kids during the summer 2010 (I'm in California, Bay Area).
I used it for the first week and ended up put it in the garage! This is just a grey silver packaging plastic! When I used it, a layer of water about 8 inches on the surface is about 3 degrees warmer than without it, but the water below the surface is much colder than without the cover, due to the water is "covered"!
After the kids got in the pool, blended the water, the temperature was colder than without using it(about 2 degrees). I tried for one week and stopped!
Leave the pool open to get direct sun light to heat the water from surface to bottom would allow the total volume of water absorbing more heat than covering it up!
It worked okay as dust cover, but the water is colder when it is covered. Unless you want cover the pool during winter time without swimming, then it works for that purpose.
