It allows me to stay warm on the couch without bumping up the heat and warming the whole house. However, the throw is a bit stiff because of the heating element throughout. Also, it is not the softest. It is my first heated blanket so I don't know if this is customary with this type of blanket. Despite the stiffness, it serves its purpose.
