(More customer reviews)I bought this coat for my terrier mix dog to keep him dry on walks. I looked but could find no product ratings, so I'm trying to put a few up for this coat so others can have better info. He is about 12 inches long from neck to tail, but the medium was very long for him. There are 2 straps, the one by the arms does a good job of securing the coat but the lower one covers the business end of things. For a female dog it would be fine, for males it is a gamble whether the strap hits at the wrong place.
The coat is cute and I like the black piping that goes around it. The material is fine, waterproof, but don't buy this thinking the fleece lining will provide warmth. There is basically no insulation, the coat is extremely light weight. It's ok for the purpose I bought it for, I can have him wear a sweater & put the coat on over it for rain. I would send it back to get a small, but am not sure if the small size would be too small. I got the coat for around $14 on sale on another site and with shipping back & forth I'd be paying way too much to exchange it. I'm just going to devise a velcro or snap fix to put a fold in the bottom 3 or 4 inches, so it is shorter & I don't lose the piping border at the end of the coat. The bottom strap is a loss & I will probably end up cutting off that strap.
There are leg straps if you want to secure the coat further, my dog doesn't like them.
The coat is ok, but I wish there was a better description of the size. They should simply give the dimensions of the coat instead of a range for what size dog it fits. That would have made it clear the coat I bought was way too long. On the up side, my dog has a very deep chest despite being thin - he only weighs 16 pounds - and the coat & strap easily went around him. The strap was almost too long.
