(More customer reviews)I've had two previous Sunbeam cheaper model blankets that quit working after a few months. The "Imperial Dreams" model is more expensive, seems to use a different kind of heating wire (NO HARD LUMPS every few inches in the blanket wiring like the previous ones!) and, so far, is working GREAT.
The "mushroom" color is ugly but that is just an aesthetic issue. One side of blanket is a pleasing industrial-strength cross-hatch weave that has not pilled-up like the old fuzzy blankets did, the other side is "industrial utility-looking" flat surface but not scratchy and no pilling (so far).
The surface-mount ON-OFF pushbutton on the control is positioned off-center and is hard to find in the dark. Button is not raised and I cannot feel it. I must turn the light on to SEE it. The large, rotating temperature knob does not have "detents" to hold it on setting. An errant arm/hand during sleep can (and has) easily rotated the knob, eventually waking me because I am TOOO HOT (or cold).
Bottom Line: Blanket looks "industrial utility" grade, which is fine (I'm not sure one needs to be "excited" about the look of an electric blanket). Blanket heats evenly and works well. Control works okay but has design issues making operation difficult. If needed, would I buy another? YES. Would I give one as a gift? Uh, yeah. Would I recommend someone else buy one? Yes, if they don't care about looks and understand that the control unit can be annoying.
